ABOUT

Founded in Nagasaki in 2023 by Soichiro Sushitani, NANCY sewing factory explores the structure and durability of garments through one-person production.

From material selection to cutting, sewing, and finishing, all processes are done by hand using industrial sewing machines and simple tools.

The brand values traces of work—needle marks, metal oxidation, and fading—as signs of use rather than flaws.

Drawing from the construction and function of historical workwear, NANCY rebuilds them to suit the rhythm of contemporary life.

Now based in Yokohama, the atelier continues to create clothing that ages with its wearer, using indigo denim, brass studs, and iron fittings to express both utility and quiet strength.

Atelier and Equipment

Located in Ushikubo, Tsuzuki-ku, Yokohama, the atelier is equipped with several industrial machines,

each tuned for a specific purpose and operated solely by Sushitani himself.

Main Machines:

 • JUKI DDL-8700 (lockstitch)

 • JUKI DDL-5600N (heavy-duty lockstitch)

 • JUKI DDL-5570 (vintage lockstitch)

 • JUKI LK-1852 (electronic buttonhole)

 • Dürkopp Adler 558 (automatic bartack)

 • JUKI MH-484 (chainstitch)

These machines, together with iron worktables and brass punching setups,

form an environment where each process leaves visible traces of the maker’s hands.
